Born and raised in Mexico City, Silvina is a Licensed Psychotherapist turned Life Coach who began her journey of self-discovery in 2007, after realizing that she was responsible for her own happiness. She discovered home-based yoga in 2004 and began practicing more seriously in 2008. Although Silvina has been breathing since she was born, she passionately fell in love with the power of breath when she was introduced to Transformational Breathwork in 2009. She participated in Transformational Breathwork as well as Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga trainings (2009-2010) while attending Social Work school and working full-time. She began to learn that through the practice of daily Yoga, breathwork, meditation, and self-hypnosis she could solve her own riddles and began to notice dramatic changes in her outlook/perspective. Silvina earned her Master’s in Social Work from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Tennessee. Silvina has provided psychotherapy since 2011 in Community-Based Mental Health settings in Philadelphia “The Badlands” and recently since moving to Knoxville in 2016. Silvina’s most recent project was to establish “Presence Life Coach”, a breath-based Life Coaching practice that teaches individuals how to access the tools they hold within themselves to achieve a fuller, happier life. Silvina is eager to teach Onsight’s climbing community the power of Yoga and Breath, and how this dynamic duo can help take your climbing to a different mental and physical level. See you on the mat!

Jessica began her journey with yoga in 2005. As a life-long competitive gymnast and athlete, she found that yoga met her need for a creative, mental, and physical challenge. After years of practice and recognizing all of the benefits of yoga on her whole person, she made the decision to deepen her study of all aspects of yoga and completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification Training in 2016. In October 2016 she attended a weekend immersion in teaching children’s yoga. Jessica is a Master’s level clinician who specializes in trauma, attachment, and development and works with children and families in therapeutic foster care. Teaching yoga has allowed her to expand her passion of teaching, helping, and understanding others in a way that also provides a much needed outlet for self-care. It allows her to slow down, focus on others, and continue to learn and grow through sharing her love for all things yoga. Her classes focus on the importance of mindfulness, breath, and focus to find hidden strength, balance, and awareness of the potential of the whole self.
Derek is originally from Berryville, VA and graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. His first night at ODU, he went to a climbing wall and experienced the sport for the first time. Having come from a very athletic background, he found it very humbling and more challenging than it initially appeared. He was instantly hooked and the rest is history. He developed a vast amount of knowledge in the sport and passion for training during his college years. He takes on every opportunity to travel to climbing competitions and to climb at outdoor crags and makes the absolute most of it. He accredits his climbing success to his somewhat unique style of training (ask him about it sometime!). He has now made his way to Knoxville, where he couldn't be happier to share his passion for climbing and training with the Onsight community.
